I have experience trading crypto assets. Currently, I mainly trade BTC options and newly listed coins on the MEXC exchange, using a strategy designed to prioritize capital preservation. Recently, I also wrote a BTC options research report using five years of historical data on BTC price and implied volatility. Based on that dataset, I estimated option prices at different points in time using the Black–Scholes model. From there, I identified an optimal delta range for the legs and defined clear risk-management exit rules for scenarios where the position moves against me. The entire analysis was built specifically for a strangle options strategy.
In my trading, I always define a maximum risk amount per trade. Based on that limit and the stop-loss level I set, I calculate the position size I’m allowed to take.
For example, if my capital is $10,000 and my maximum loss per position is 0.25% of the account, that’s $25. If my stoploss is 10% away from the entry price, then I can open a $250 position and know that, even if the stop is hit, I won’t lose more than my predefined risk.
I also follow another key capital-protection rule: moving the stop to breakeven once the price moves in my favor by a certain percentage (the exact threshold depends on the volatility of the instrument I’m trading).
