Bitcoin Suisse to Cut Up to 60 Jobs, or Half of Zug Workforce, in September 2026 Restructuring
Bitcoin Suisse is restructuring its headquarters in Zug as it expands its international business, putting up to 60 jobs at risk of relocation, according to a report by finews.ch. The company announced the restructuring on September 11, 2026, with as many as half of its current Zug-based positions potentially affected.
The roles targeted are primarily in back-office and administrative functions. Bitcoin Suisse plans to move some of these activities to Bratislava or establish a new location in Vietnam, where operating costs are lower. The final number of positions to be eliminated or relocated will be determined after a ten-day consultation process. The first layoffs are expected before the end of 2026.
Bitcoin Suisse said the restructuring is part of its shift from a primarily Swiss-focused crypto business to an internationally positioned provider of wealth and asset management services. Group CEO and co-founder Andrej Majcen told finews: βIn the past, our focus was primarily on Switzerland. Now, international growth is our priority. Building on our extensive crypto expertise, we want to offer international clients a broad range of wealth and asset management services that goes beyond crypto.β
Founded in 2013, Bitcoin Suisse initially built its business around cryptocurrency trading and custody. Its services have since expanded to include trading, custody, staking and lending. The company is now targeting wealthy private clients, family offices, asset managers and institutional investors.
Bitcoin Suisse has been expanding its regulatory footprint as part of the international push. Its European subsidiary obtained a MiCAR license in Liechtenstein, providing access to European Economic Area markets through passporting. The group also received licenses for digital asset and investment activities in Bermuda, while its Middle Eastern subsidiary obtained full regulatory approval from Abu Dhabiβs financial regulator during the summer.
