Polygon Labs Announces Second 2026 Layoff Round as It Integrates Coinme
Polygon Labs announced a second round of layoffs in 2026 on July 16 as the layer-2 blockchain company works to finalize its acquisition of Coinme and transition into a blockchain-enabled payments company. The company did not disclose the number of positions affected or the percentage of its workforce impacted.
The layoffs are part of a broader merger and restructuring effort linked to the Coinme acquisition. Polygon Labs said the changes are intended to support the company’s integration of Coinme and its shift toward payments, while helping position the business for profitability in 2027.
Polygon Labs CEO Marc Boiron acknowledged the impact of making two sets of organizational changes in the same year. “Two rounds of changes in one year is a lot to ask of a team, and I understand it is hard to manage,” Boiron said.
The company is a layer-2 blockchain firm that has been expanding its strategy beyond network infrastructure through its planned combination with Coinme, a cryptocurrency cash-to-crypto platform. The acquisition and restructuring are expected to shape Polygon Labs’ next phase as it develops payments-focused blockchain services.
No further details about the affected teams, locations or timing of the layoffs were disclosed. The company’s stated forward-looking objective is to complete the Coinme integration and move toward profitability in 2027.
