The Block Research is looking for a passionate individual to join our 12-person research team. As a financial research analyst, you will produce unique insights about the digital assets industry that institutions and corporate executives around the world need.You will work directly with the director of research and the existing research team, as well as improve your existing substantial knowledge about the digital assets landscape. Moreover, by leveraging our strong industry network and wide reach within the digital assets community, you will be able to build your own personal brand in the industry as well as on social media.Having access to the full spectrum of digital asset data providers, you will be able to utilize your analytical skills to produce state-of-the-art insights that are in high demand by digital asset venture capital firms and investment companies.This role offers competitive compensation and significant opportunities for advancement.What we needIn this financial research analyst role you will be responsible for producing institutional research content that ranges from, but not limited to: public and private company deep dives, weekly market commentary, commissioned research articles and long-form thematic reports on complex topics, investor-focused newsletter(s) and other client distributions. You also will be expected to communicate with corporate clients and investors on the current state of the industry and provide analysis on companies (both private and public) that operate within the ecosystem. Your research will be published under your own byline and will be part of The Block Research, a premium membership-based product. In addition to these responsibilities, you will also manage other tasks associated with being a part of an early-stage company. The breadth of the role should be thrilling for any analyst focused on applying their analytical skills and previous experience to an emerging asset class while building up their personal brand. Those who enjoy challenging themselves across multiple areas, topics and variety of tasks are best fit.You will work hand-in-hand with a Research Lead and a diverse research team to ensure that the group delivers a comprehensive suite of research to our clients. Your ability to synthesize and convey your ideas publicly will be important, as The Block is a high profile organization that receives numerous requests for public appearances, knowledge sharing, and community interaction. This role will report into a Research Lead focused on covering the intersection of crypto, payments, and financial services.In summary, this is an early-stage opportunity that combines aspects of both traditional research roles and emerging technology company-like pace in a client-facing environment.
Successful candidates will likely have:
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills. This role will be expected to communicate deliverables to internal teams and clients
- Excellent Microsoft office, Excel and PowerPoint, skills for creating client facing materials including equity research like reports, investor decks, concise memos and one pagers
- Financial modeling experience and the ability to interpret data and create effective data visualizations
- Demonstrable experience as a process oriented thinker
- Ability to break down complex ideas into accessible and concise institutional-grade research
- Ability to handle fast-paced work
- Ability to learn fast and work independently
The following is a plus
- Prior knowledge and experience within FIG or Payment industries of 2+ years
- Equity Research, Investment Banking, or Management Consulting experience
