Investment Associate

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess investment opportunities.
• Reasoning through the emerging trends in the space and identifying non-obvious opportunities for deployment of capital.
• Sourcing early stage investment opportunities in emergent companies and protocols.
• Administer deal flow: opportunity, analysis, negotiation, settlement, post investment management.
• Monitoring portfolio companies to help with key strategic projects for portfolio companies and support investment / divestment making decisions.
• Identify new, innovative technology and market trends, and recommend high-potential investments.
• Sourcing early stage investment opportunities in emergent companies and protocols.
• Create in-depth reports and presentations on crucial industry trends and events
• Understand the company’s investment priorities, both ROI and Strategic. These priorities will be provided by the Executive Committee from time to time.
• Manage deal flow software and data. Recommend and implement improvements.

Requirements

• Finance/Business Administration or STEM background.
• Sharp analytical mind with a killer instinct to identify deals in the market.
• 3 to 5 years experience in a top tier venture capital firm, M&A department, private equity, fund, or family office.
• Ability to source early stage investment opportunities projects that are outside 200 CMC, through personal connections, twitter, discord and telegram communities, venture DAO communities, whale groups.
• Has written insightful and concise investment memos and decks, including: a) product innovation and differentiation; b) why product can be a unicorn; c) product long term utility; d) valuation and comparables.
• Can coordinate deal flow process with internal and external stakeholders
• Blockchain industry experience: knowledge of deals and valuations, comparison of market caps, understanding of market sentiment (especially defi projects)
• Must be familiar with investments deal flow processes and systems.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills – needs to work with external investment partners and invested projects.
• Strong ability in creating financial models (discounted cashflow, payback period and IRR, comparables, and other valuation methods).
• Startup culture: highly independent, prepared to build the organization from zero (people, process, systems), assist in many administrative and cross functional areas.
• Fluent in both English and Mandarin in order to liaise with Mandarin speaking associates who can’t speak English

Preferred

• Based in Singapore (although remote acceptable).
• Solid understanding of smart contracts scripting, cryptography, crypto-economics, and blockchain technologies generally.
• From a top DeFi or crypto project.

Our Investment Mandate

• Projects with strategic synergies with Crypto Exchanges in terms of users, trade flows, or organization capabilities. This includes: trading tools, media platforms, analytics or aggregator platforms, licensed fiat onramps, licensed wealth management, crypto security projects, social media agencies, and recruitment agencies.
• Projects with strategic synergies with BitDAO, including: DEX, lending, vaults, synthetics, layer 2 solutions, onchain security or audit solutions, wallets and analytics.
• Innovative crypto projects that will be future unicorns including: DeFi, NFT related, and layer 1 or 2.
• Aspiring founders capable of challenging the status quo.
