Defiant Media Inc. was founded in 2019 by Camila Russo, former Bloomberg News journalist and author of The Infinite Machine, the most read book on the history of Ethereum. Today, it has a core team of 17, plus a network of dozens of contributors. The Defiant publishes news stories and features, research reports, opinion columns, exclusive interviews and tutorials across its website, newsletters, podcast and YouTube channel. We are building a platform focusing on on-chain DeFi data which we expect will become an indispensable tool for investors, traders and analysts following the industry when we launch the first version in the coming months. Hundreds of thousands consume The Defiant content each month, and after its 10x growth in 2021, we expect that to climb into the millions this year.
We’re looking for a lead backend developer to help build out our DeFi-focused data platform; a comprehensive, customizable, shareable and code-free interface, sourcing timely, high-definition data directly from smart contracts. We aim to become an indispensable tool for investors and analysts operating in decentralized finance.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and support the data pipelines, data warehouses and reporting tools that power our products and systems
- Maintain and develop our internal and customer facing APIs
- Server Deployment and configuration management
- Collaborate and influence stakeholders to ensure our data infrastructure meets constantly evolving requirements
- Take initiative and be responsible for technical solutions to data quality and workflow challenges
- Strive for continuous improvement and build continuous integration, continuous development, and constant deployment pipeline (CI/CD Pipeline)
- Always strive to build for maximum speed, security and scalability
- Writing clean, functional code that’s well documented
- Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency
Requirements
- Proven experience as a lead or senior developer
- Experience with AWS or other cloud providers
- Direct experience with the crypto markets (either professionally or as a hobby)
- Experience with developing data-intensive applications and building data pipelines
- Experience designing data models and data warehouses and using SQL and NoSQL database management systems
- Experience in with data structures, algorithms and software design
- Experience with development of production software
- Proficient in Python and Javascript
- Proficient with relational databases like Postgres
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Proficient with git and git workflows
- Great attention to detail
- Great Organizational skills
- An analytical mind
- Degree in Computer Science, Statistics or relevant field
- Ability to work within 3 hrs of EST
