
Brave is looking for a privacy engineer who is also interested in project management responsibilities. The position would be split between implementing new privacy features, and helping oversee other parts of Brave’s privacy projects.
Representative privacy engineering tasks include improving fingerprinting protections in Brave iOS, adding the ability to limit permission lifetimes in brave-core, or building a system to allow Brave users to audit their Shields settings. Representative privacy project management tasks include monitoring and overseeing the implementation of other privacy features, reviewing or co-writing new privacy-specs (either for internal use, or as part of standards bodies), and participating in ongoing competitive analysis of how Brave can continue to be at the forefront of protecting privacy online.
Candidates should have: experience working in Chromium or similarly large, multi-stakeholder code bases a deep understanding of the Web and trends in Web privacy Intermediate to expert level experience in JavaScript and C++
Experience with any of the following are appealing, too:
- privacy activism
- experience building privacy tools
- project management experience
- understanding of privacy and Web compatibility trade-offs interest in research and / or Web measurement
- experience working in standards bodies
