Software Engineer

The Role:

You’ll be responsible for designing and building microservices on a Hadoop-based Big Data stack. You will handle all aspects of development (requirements, design & code, review, test, documentation) as part of an expert team. You will work in a cross-functional Agile team which is split across geographies delivering a ground-up Big Data Analytics solution.

Skills and Requirements:

You will possess experience in Scala and Akka for delivering complex, real-time and highly available distributed systems, or be an exceptional Java developer ready to move into Scala. You have hands-on development experience on Big Data solutions/frameworks/products built in a Microservices architecture using technologies including Hadoop (HFDS, HBase), Kafka, Zookeeper, Spark/Flink, Drill. You possess a strong understanding of real-time interaction with huge data volumes and the codification of algorithms. You love delivering clean, flawless, performant code. You possess experience developing for Linux, or Linux based platforms. Working in an agile methodologies environment comes naturally to you (SCRUM framework). You love working on and learning about streaming data, distributed computation, machine learning, clustering and high performance data storage, indexing and retrieval. Proactive, energised and driven by a true interest in new technologies are all ways in which you would describe yourself. You possess a high level of English skills, both written and spoken.
