Simply put: I got into coding because of the crypto environment. I got a journalism degree from Stony Brook University (NY) and my senior project was a heavily-reported piece on cryptocurrencies. It was done in 2017, when Bitcoin was at its highest price and no one outside of crypto subreddits, knew exactly what was going on. On one hand, blockchain tech sparked a technical interest in me--namely how "safe" a decentralized network of computers can actually be and how the software itself was made. But on the other--more pragmatic side--we were required to present our reported piece in a website. At the time, we were given a limited Wordpress template to work with and I simply wasn't happy with it. So after graduation, I decided to dive down the web development hole and here I am almost two years later. I think I would be a good fit for this job because I simply love the React development experience. I got into it a little over a year ago--in a MERN-stack bootcamp--and have been doing freelance React development ever since. I'm currently building a static website for a production company (the latest build is on my CV--mind the bugs! I'm still working on it) in Mexico City, with Gatsby and AWS. I've also used Redux, Hooks and have made a conscious effort to stick to ES6. I hope that this experience will be sufficient for the position and if not, I'm eager to work with a team and keep learning.
