Product UI/UX Designer (Part-time)

The Virtual Society Foundation (the “Foundation”) is creating Somnia an L1 blockchain and set of protocols to enable a new digital economy around the metaverse and gaming.

The “metaverse” can be described as a network of interconnected worlds, digital assets, identities, and experiences that enrich each other and the real world, generating economic value and providing fulfilling experiences. The Foundation aims to unlock this potential by overcoming technical, experiential, and accessibility challenges and establishing a functional ecosystem where builders and creators can thrive. In this evolving digital landscape, design is paramount to ensuring seamless, engaging, and intuitive experiences for all users.

Somnia our flagship product suite is a high-performance blockchain designed to support the needs of real-time, high-concurrency applications. This will apply to gaming and the metaverse where we want to enable new experiences and a digital economy. Assets and users being able to move between experiences are essential for this vision to be fulfilled. We have created a set of protocols and a programming language (metaverse markup language) to enable interoperable content.

Your Mission

We seek a creative and experienced UI/UX Designer to conceptualize, design, and refine user interfaces for our metaverse applications. We already have 3 major user-facing products and plan to release many more. These are focused on enabling users and creators to make new digital assets that can be used in experiences. You will work closely with our development team and other stakeholders to create visually appealing and functionally efficient designs that enhance user engagement and satisfaction. Your designs will be instrumental in bringing our metaverse concepts to life and making them accessible to a wide range of users.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop user-centered design solutions for web and mobile applications within the metaverse ecosystem
• Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups for various digital products
• Conduct user research and usability testing to inform design decisions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of design with technical requirements
• Design intuitive navigation systems and information architecture for complex applications
• Create and maintain design systems and style guides for consistency across products
• Stay updated on the latest UI/UX trends, especially in the context of metaverse and Web3 technologies
• Contribute to the ideation and conceptualization of new features and products

Qualifications:

• 3 years of experience in UI/UX design, preferably in the tech, Web3 or gaming industry.
• Proven experience in creating user-centred designs that are both functional and visually engaging.
• Proven experience in creating UI/UX flows for builders
• Proficiency in design and prototyping tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma, or similar.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating a range of UI/UX projects, preferably including Web3 or gaming-related work
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and decisions to stakeholders.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Web3 platforms or blockchain technology.
• Familiarity with front-end development and the ability to work closely with developers. Potential even making front-end components.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards and how to apply them to digital products.

Logistics

Salary Range:  Part-time $

Role Location: The company is a remote-first business, offering the flexibility to work anywhere worldwide.

Reporting Lines: This role will report directly to the managing director of the foundation.
