The AML Compliance Analyst operates as part of the Second Line of Defence, providing independent oversight and challenge of the organisation's AML/CFT framework, with particular focus on crypto-asset activities regulated under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) and Malta's Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and Prevention of Money Laundering and Funding of Terrorism Regulations (PMLFTR). The role supports the MLRO in discharging obligations to the FIAU (as AML/CFT supervisor) and in meeting conduct and prudential expectations set by the MFSA as competent authority for Crypto-Asset Service Providers (CASPs) under MiCA.
