At Anchorage we are building the world’s most advanced digital asset platform for institutions to participate in crypto.Anchorage Digital was founded in 2017 to advance institutional participation in digital assets. With an emphasis on security and usability, we provide the technology, infrastructure, and tools that make it easy for institutions across the world to participate in crypto. Our team brings together the brightest minds from security, finance, and distributed systems to build the infrastructure of a new financial system. We’re looking to diversify our team with people who are humble, creative, and eager to learn. We are a remote-first, global team, but provide the option of working in-office in San Francisco, New York City, Indianapolis, Sioux Falls, Porto, and Singapore. The mission of an Engineering Manager is to drive the healthy growth of the engineering organization. As an Engineering Manager, you are expected to help with hiring high-caliber Engineers to support the growth of the team, mentor and collaborate with team members to work toward their career goals, and drive the processes that can sustain a high-performance engineering team. The frontend team is responsible for four key areas of Anchorage’s product surface: the KYC onboarding application, the Anhcorage.com marketing site, the internal web dashboard, and the external facing client dashboard. We work to add new functionality to, support existing functionality for, and optimize each of these codebases.
You will:
- Build, mentor, and manage a highly diverse team of varying engineering skill sets, backgrounds, and levels of experience.Â
- Focus on and prioritize the health, happiness, personal/professional progression of every member on your team.
- Work with other engineering managers, product management, people/recruiting, and the rest of engineering to drive team growth, retention, and hiring moving forward.Â
- Improve the efficiency of the team by identifying the bottlenecks, issues and areas of improvement within the engineering organization.
- Grow, evolve, and operate an industry leading set of products.
You may be a fit for this role if:
- You have real world experience building complex distributed systems. We mostly use Go, however languages can be learned. We really care about your engineering skills more than any specific language or framework.
- You enjoy building services from scratch and supporting them over a meaningful period of time.Â
- You genuinely care about code quality and test infrastructure.Â
- You prioritize end-user experience and business value over “cool tech.”
- You have developed “computer science fundamentals”, i.e. concurrency, algorithms, and data structures (Formal CS degree NOT required).Â
- You self describe as some combination of the following: creative, humble, ambitious, detail oriented, hard working, trustworthy, eager to learn, methodical, action oriented, and tenacious.
Although not a requirement, bonus points if:
- You have experience with applied cryptography.
- You feel comfortable diving down the stack and into open source projects to root cause a bug.Â
- In your mind the word “crypto” stands for cryptography, not cryptocurrency.
- You read blockchain protocol white papers for fun, and stay up to date with the proliferation of cryptoasset innovations.
- You have a background in the finance industry.
