DMD Solutions is proud to be partnering with Foundations United in the search for a Head of Data Engineering (Analytics, Reporting & Architecture). Foundations United is building a connected ecosystem of DAOs and blockchain-native products that redefine how communities collaborate, govern, and create.

As the Head of Data Engineering, you will own how data is architected, transformed, analyzed, and reported across the entire ecosystem. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role for someone who can design scalable data architectures and ensure leadership has trusted, decision-ready reporting.

You will be accountable for turning raw data into organized, reliable, and understandable insights, while building the technical foundations that allow the ecosystem to scale.

Key Responsibilities

Data Architecture & Platform Ownership

• Design and own the end-to-end data architecture across all brands, products, and DAOs.
• Define standards for data ingestion, storage, modeling, and access across warehouses, lakes, and analytics layers.
• Ensure the data platform is scalable, secure, and cost-efficient.
• Make architectural decisions that balance speed, reliability, and long-term maintainability.

Analytics, Reporting & Insights Ownership

• Own ecosystem-wide reporting, metrics, and KPIs used by leadership and product teams.
• Ensure consistent definitions and alignment of metrics across brands and DAOs.
• Build and oversee dashboards, reports, and analytics workflows that leadership relies on for decisions.
• Partner directly with executives to translate business questions into data models and insights.

Data Engineering & Transformation

• Oversee and contribute to ETL/ELT pipelines that transform raw on-chain and off-chain data into analytics-ready datasets.
• Set standards for transformations, testing, documentation, and deployment.
• Ensure data pipelines are reliable, observable, and well-maintained.

Data Organization, Governance & Quality

• Own how data is structured, documented, and governed across the ecosystem.
• Establish and enforce naming conventions, data models, and metric definitions.
• Implement data quality checks, freshness monitoring, and SLAs for reporting pipelines.
• Ensure data is discoverable, trusted, and easy to use by downstream teams.

Leadership & Team Development

• Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing data engineering and analytics team.
• Set technical direction, execution standards, and best practices.
• Review architecture, transformations, and reporting logic for correctness and scalability.
• Act as the senior technical authority for all data-related decisions.

Cross-Functional Partnership

• Work closely with product, finance, operations, and engineering leaders.
• Serve as the primary owner of data discussions at the leadership level.
• Advocate for data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or data platform leadership.
• Proven experience designing and owning data architecture at scale (warehouses, lakes, analytics layers).
• Strong hands-on experience building reporting pipelines, analytics models, and dashboards.
• Advanced SQL and strong Python skills.
• Experience with modern data stacks (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, dbt, Looker, PowerBI).
• Demonstrated ownership of data quality, documentation, and metric definitions.
• Experience leading data engineers or analytics engineers.
• Strong communication skills and comfort partnering with executives.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Web3, blockchain, or crypto-native data (on-chain events, wallets, DeFi, staking).
• Experience building multi-product or multi-brand data architectures.
• Background in finance, product, or operational analytics.
• Experience in startup or high-growth environments.
