Join our effort to support a leadership team that has excelled independently of project managers for over ten years, and help us take the game to the next level. You will join a close-knit, opinionated, creative, and (slightly) unruly team that values lean and efficient operations over adding corporate fat.
At the same time, we acknowledge the value of doing things right, and spend a non-negligible amount of time discussing how we work and how to improve.
Responsibilities:
Managing Things:
At any given time, we will be working on a number of initiatives. While we are generally working towards clear deliverables, you will help our teams in a number of areas:
- Maintain the project and program portfolio for all teams.
- For every project, ensure expectations are well communicated, dependencies are identified, and resources are planned.
- Track timelines and delivery dates.
- Help identify and deliver the proper level of detail to senior stakeholders.
- Own the meeting calendar, with a focus on removing the unnecessary, the perfunctory, and the valueless.
- In the long run, you will own the continuous improvement process, holding people accountable for changes and keeping the team focused.
Facilitation:
In this role, you will perform as a master of ceremonies, ensuring that maximum value is extracted from meetings and in-person events. In particular, you will:
- Foster the right amount of communication between teams and their stakeholders.
- Ensure agendas are ready, minutes recorded, and actions tracked. Meeting outcomes should never be ambiguous.
- Help identify the right audience for each activity, with the intention of keeping them as lean as possible.
- Organise our quarterly in-person meet-ups with the support of office management departement.
- Most importantly, help us reflect on how to improve the way we spend time together and with stakeholders.
Skills:
This is a multidisciplinary role requiring a variety of skills. We work remotely and our teams have different specialties so we expect you to have experience in managing programs of work with similar characteristics. Most importantly, you are not only comfortable but thrive in situations with imperfect information and have a natural ability to compromise, use economic sense to support decisions, and perform scenario-based forecasting.
Besides this, you will also:
- Be a concise, direct and clear communicator.
- Use exceptional organisational skills to oversee and report on multiple programs at once.
- Be adaptable. Plans are worthless, but planning is everything.
- Play Cards Against Humanity without taking offence.
What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):
We do not demand or expect the perfect candidate, but we do need someone with significant experience. In your career, you should have:
- 4+ years in a software tech company background, and have participated in the initial rollout of their products
- Worked in distributed, mostly remote teams
- Highly organised with an impeccable attention to detail
- Comfortable with ambiguity, can turn incomplete or even conflicting inputs into clear plans
- Clear communicator (both written & verbal) who can facilitate dialogues with senior stakeholders and drive toward outcomes
- Worked in the setup and continuous improvement of program management processes
- Shown strong interest in blockchain and a passion for innovative technology
Other Requirements:
- Able to travel every 3-6 months or our periodic get togethers
- This role is based in Dubai
- PMP certification (Preferred)
