Regulatory Counsel - Middle East

Responsibilities:

• Assist with a broad range of legal/regulatory matters, including regulatory perimeter assessments, licensing/registration applications, product assessment, and regulatory investigations across the Middle East, with a focus on the UAE and Bahrain.
• Provide legal/regulatory support to local and global business teams on product launches and marketing campaigns (including advising on scope and recommended adjustments), draft product terms and ensure compliance with regulatory rules.
• Work closely with various operational functions (e.g. Finance, Compliance and product teams) to support and advise on efficient and compliant operations.
• Proactively identify legal problems, solutions and potential support needed to provide strategic support to local business teams.
• Tag-team with legal team members in other time zones around the world to collectively provide around-the-clock legal support for the business.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable laws and regulations in a rapidly changing legal/regulatory landscape for crypto, to provide strategic and forward-looking advice and foster compliance.

Requirements:

• Qualified lawyer of a common law jurisdiction, with a minimum of 5-7 years post qualification experience.
• Interactions with the financial regulatory authorities will be advantageous. 
• In-house experience gained from relevant industries - Financial Services, Fintech or other Technology Corporations are highly preferred.
• Possesses solid legal technical expertise as well as sound business and people judgment sense.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, global organization maintaining close contact with relevant teams across multiple locations.
• Excellent technical drafting skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent problem solving skills and ability to provide useful and efficient counsel.
• Hands on at work and can be independent in managing complex projects.
• Experience working on crypto-related legal matters preferred, but not essential.
• Arabic language skills preferred, but not essential.
