Business Development Salary

✍️ For almost 7 years, I dedicated myself to nursing in the Philippines. I started as a staff nurse and worked my way up to a mid-level executive role. But I hit a ceiling. Further advancement required either an MBA... or marrying into the owning family. Alongside this, the harsh reality for Filipino nurses – earning only around $200-300 USD monthly – pushed many abroad. I refused to accept that as my only path. I decided to pave my own way. In 2017, I invested in crypto. Simultaneously, I pursued an MBA, seeing it as essential for unlocking growth and opportunities beyond the limitations I faced. Remarkably, crypto profits funded that entire degree. During my MBA, I was honored to receive the "Outstanding Thesis Award" for my research on cryptocurrencies in emerging markets. I also held leadership roles as EVP and Academic Chair of our graduate cohort, and was recognized with a "Servant Leadership Award" for mentoring peers. These experiences, combined with my track record of helping my previous healthcare employer grow from 2 branches to multiple locations nationwide (with high staff retention and productivity), caught the attention of a century-old medical device manufacturer. They offered me the role of Head of Business Development for Southeast Asia. Honestly, I was hesitant. Sales wasn’t my passion; my heart was in operations. My first year was hell. I didn’t enjoy a single waking moment, though the pay was good. By the second year, I dug deep. I told myself, "I’ve grown through every challenge; sales won’t be my downfall, it’ll be another skill in my arsenal." And I adapted. By year three, I was standing in a boardroom in Germany. I was presenting innovative strategies to the global CEO and counterparts, showcasing how the SEA market had surged in sales, outperforming other regions in growth even during the rise of COVID. I was the only Asian in the room, and the only one under 35. I felt a sense of accomplishment... but not fulfillment. A deep unease lingered. Something wasn’t right. Seeking answers and further growth, I pursued my Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA), diving deep into ethics, regulations, and complex business problems. My crypto investments funded this too. It was during this time I was awakened to the source of that eerie feeling: my immediate supervisor, the Managing Director for Asia, was involved in illegal setups in the Philippines. As the sole Filipino employee in the company structure, I knew I was at significant risk. Driven by ethics, I reported the wrongdoing directly to headquarters in Germany. The consequence? Unlawful termination. Now, I face this multinational giant in the courts of the Philippines – a country known for corruption, but whose people, like me, are increasingly fed up with it. As we say: "Kung mga kapwa Filipino nga, nag lolokohan, magpapaloko din ba tayo sa mga banyaga at foreigners?" (If even our fellow Filipinos deceive us, should we also let foreigners fool us?). Being a whistleblower essentially doomed my corporate employability. Countless interviews ended abruptly when they learned about my ongoing legal battle. So, I turned to entrepreneurship. I launched seven startups, employing relatives and learning hard lessons. Three survive today. Through every high and low – the nursing years, the corporate climb, the DBA, the whistleblowing, the legal fight, the startup rollercoaster – one constant remained: Crypto. It paid for my MBA and DBA. It supported my family of 12 through two years of COVID. It funded my entrepreneurial ventures. It provided freedom when traditional paths failed me. Today, I believe this is where I belong – at the intersection of business, ethics, and this digital revolution. I'm a professional, an entrepreneur, and now, an advocate, committed to doing good: for my family, for my community, and for building systems rooted in integrity. The fight continues, but so does the belief in building something better.πŸ“ Manila, Philippines πŸ•‘ 7 years at the company⏳ 14 years of experienceπŸŽ‚ 36 years old
