Deputy Head of Tax

Who You Are:

The Director/Managing Director, Deputy Head of Tax will assist with overseeing tax matters for Galaxy’s business units. This person will collaborate with Legal, Finance, Tax, Operations, and internal stakeholders, as well as external advisors, and report to the Head of Tax.

What You’ll Do:

• Participate in proactive tax planning and optimization.
• Review new business initiatives.
• Oversee quarterly/annual tax reporting, preparation of U.S. and non-U.S. tax returns, tax workpapers, tax estimates, tax distributions.
• Assist with development of internal tax policies and enhancement of tax automation processes.
• Assist with drafting memoranda for key tax positions and documenting tax processes and controls.
• Tax guidance, for internal restructurings, acquisitions, and investments.
• Review, analyze, and interpret current and new tax laws, regulations, guidance and assist with advising internal stakeholders on impact to current business lines and new products.

What We’re Looking For:

• Intellectually curious and creative self-starter.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience with a global law firm, Big 4 accounting firm, financial services/investment management company, or a combination.
• Broad experience involving tax provisions, financial reporting, partnership, corporate, international, and employee payroll tax, with a focus on financial products and services.
• Accounting, Finance, and/or Law degree.
• Ability to work independently, but within a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Meticulously organized and process driven.
• Excellent communication and critical thinking skills.

Bonus Points:

• Experience with digital assets and blockchain technology.
• Experience working with “Up-C” structures and partnerships.
• Experience with automating tax processes.
