Working at Wintermute

Wintermute is a global company with offices in London and Singapore. It opened its US office in early 2025 and it is set to grow significantly over the next several years. It’s a unique opportunity to play a role in the early rapid expansion of Wintermute Americas.

The Role

We are hiring across multiple levels within our Business Development & Partnerships team — Associate, Manager and Director — depending on experience.

You will help grow Wintermute's core businesses across institutional OTC trading, liquidity provision and strategic partnerships, working with both traditional financial institutions and crypto-native counterparties.

You will develop new relationships while expanding existing ones across institutional investors, hedge funds, trading firms, crypto projects, VCs, exchanges and other ecosystem participants.

This is a highly commercial role with significant ownership. Rather than operating within rigid territories or legacy sales structures, you will identify opportunities, develop a growth strategy and work with trading, product, legal and technology teams to execute them.

As your seniority increases, so will the expectation that you independently originate business, manage strategic relationships and shape Wintermute's commercial strategy in the Americas.

What You Will Work On:

• Grow Wintermute's institutional OTC business across traditional finance and crypto-native markets, including spot, derivatives, voice and electronic/RFQ trading.
• Identify, originate and develop relationships with institutional counterparties including hedge funds, asset managers, trading firms, family offices and other financial institutions.
• Grow Wintermute's liquidity provision business by developing relationships with leading crypto projects, foundations, VCs and other ecosystem participants.
• Build and deepen strategic partnerships with exchanges, custodians, lenders, brokers and other financial infrastructure providers.
• Work closely with trading and product teams to develop and launch new products, including gathering client feedback, testing market demand and supporting go-to-market strategy.
• Own opportunities from initial engagement through onboarding, commercial negotiation and activation.
• Develop and execute structured growth plans across specific markets, client segments or products.
• Monitor market developments, product launches and broader trends across digital assets and proactively identify new commercial opportunities.
• Maintain a structured business development process, including effective use of CRM, pipeline management and follow-ups.
• Represent Wintermute externally and help strengthen our brand and institutional presence in the US market.

Associate level:

• Typically 1–3 years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong interest in financial markets, trading and digital assets.
• Some experience in a client-facing, commercial or markets-related role.
• A strong analytical and commercial mindset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple relationships and opportunities in a highly organised way.
• Curiosity and willingness to develop strong technical knowledge of OTC trading, derivatives, market making and digital assets.
• Ability to take increasing ownership of opportunities with guidance from senior team members.

Manager level:

• Typically 3–7+ years of relevant experience, including meaningful experience within institutional financial markets, digital assets or a related commercial role.
• Demonstrated experience independently developing institutional client or counterparty relationships.
• Strong understanding of financial markets and OTC products, ideally including derivatives.
• Experience originating and closing commercial opportunities and a track record of delivering measurable business results.
• Ability to independently develop and execute a growth strategy across a client segment, product or market.
• Strong commercial judgement, including navigating onboarding, legal and commercial negotiations.
• Existing relationships across traditional finance and/or the digital asset ecosystem are highly advantageous.
• Ability to work directly with traders and product teams and communicate sophisticated trading products clearly to institutional counterparties.

Director level:

• Typically 7+ years of relevant experience, with a substantial track record in institutional sales, FICC, OTC trading, digital assets, derivatives or strategic partnerships.
• A strong existing network of institutional counterparties and strategic partners in the US financial markets.
• Significant experience originating and growing institutional revenue.
• Deep knowledge of OTC markets, with experience across spot and derivatives; options experience is particularly valuable.
• A demonstrated track record of delivering significant commercial results and developing strategic client relationships.
• Ability to independently define and execute a regional or product-level growth strategy.
• Strong understanding of both traditional financial markets and the evolving digital asset market structure.
• Ability to identify new products, partnerships and market opportunities and work with internal teams to bring them to market.
• Credibility with senior decision-makers across institutional clients, trading firms and strategic partners.
• Ability to help shape Wintermute's broader commercial strategy and institutional presence in the Americas.

Here is why you should join our dynamic team:

• Opportunity to work at the world's leading algorithmic trading firm in digital assets.
• Engaging projects offering accelerated responsibilities and ownership growth compared to traditional finance environments.
• A vibrant working culture with team events, celebrations and company wide team building events.
• A cool office in the heart of New York City which often hosts some of the leading industry events
• Great company culture: informal, non-hierarchical, ambitious, highly professional yet with a startup vibe, collaborative and entrepreneurial.
• A performance-based compensation with a significant earning upside  alongside standard perks like private medical insurance.
