Defiant Media Inc. was founded in 2019 by Camila Russo, former Bloomberg News journalist and author of The Infinite Machine, the most read book on the history of Ethereum. Today, it has a core team of 17, plus a network of dozens of contributors. The Defiant publishes news stories and features, research reports, opinion columns, exclusive interviews and tutorials across its website, newsletters, podcast and YouTube channel. We are building a platform focusing on on-chain DeFi data which we expect will become an indispensable tool for investors, traders and analysts following the industry when we launch the first version in the coming months. Hundreds of thousands consume The Defiant content each month, and after its 10x growth in 2021, we expect that to climb into the millions this year.
We’re looking for a full stack developer to lead the planning and development of the next stage of The Defiants ecosystem. The Defiant has outgrown its current tech stack and needs to replace and unify its current systems, including its website, newsletter and upcoming data platform, in order to grow and become a web3 native media organization.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the current WordPress website thedefiant.io
- Plan and execute transition from WordPress to Ghost
- Integrate web3 wallet logins
- Work with development teams and product owners to ideate software solutions
- Design client-side and server-side architecture
- Writing clean, functional code on the frontend and backend
- Build front-end of applications with appealing visual design
- Develop and manage well-functioning databases and applications
- Write effective APIs
- Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency
- Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade software
- Create security and data protection settings
- Write technical documentation
- Work with marketing and analysts to improve software
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer or similar role
- Experience developing desktop and mobile friendly web applications
- Familiarity with common stacks
- Knowledge of multiple front-end languages and libraries (e.g. HTML/ CSS, JavaScript, XML, jQuery)
- Knowledge of multiple back-end languages (e.g. C#, Java, Python) and JavaScript frameworks (e.g. Angular, React, Node.js)
- Familiarity with databases (e.g. MySQL, PostGres), web servers (e.g. NGINX) and UI/UX design
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Great attention to detail
- Organizational skills
- An analytical mind
- Degree in Computer Science, Statistics or relevant field
