As we embark on this new phase, we are looking for a Head of Operations to guide our teams and operational frameworks towards even greater heights. This pivotal role involves leading our operational strategies, bridging gaps between various departments, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and efficiency. The Head of Operations will play a central role in ensuring Flashbots not only grows but thrives, maintaining agility and robustness in our processes and systems within our unique, non-traditional collaborative environment.

In This Role, You Will:

• Develop and implement operations strategy, aligning with Flashbots' ethos.

• Navigate between high-level strategic projects and hands-on execution of those initiatives.

• Enhance key operational domains such as finance, human resources, and legal operations, maximizing efficiency and impact.

• Facilitate operational cohesion between functional groups across Research, Product, and Coordination workstreams.

• Address conflicts constructively, adapting to change with agility, catalyzing challenges into opportunities for organizational growth.

• Meticulously document processes, decisions, and rationales, ensuring operations transparency and providing a foundation for informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

• Collaboratively engage in risk management, articulating and implementing frameworks to mitigate risk.

We’re Looking for a Blend of:

• A seasoned leader with experience in operational strategy and execution, ideally in fast-paced, startup settings.

• Strong interpersonal skills, including communication, empathy, and the ability to inspire a diverse, global team.

• Strategic mindset capable of identifying complex challenges, devising practical solutions, and driving successful implementation.

• Experience in managing evolving organizational structures, nurturing their growth and effectiveness over time.

• Exceptional project management skills, demonstrating a bias for action and ownership of projects.

• Skilled at fostering team cohesiveness, supporting positive resolutions and team well being.

• Deep understanding of the crypto landscape and appreciation for Flashbots' mission and ethos.

About Flashbots

Flashbots started in 2020 as a research and development organization formed to mitigate the negative externalities and existential risks posed by Maximal Extractable Value (MEV) to smart-contract blockchains, starting with Ethereum. We build products to maximally decentralize public blockchains, redistribute MEV, and empower users. We work closely with our community to ensure that our products have a positive impact, are secure, and can be used in production at scale.

Our Impact

Since the launch of Flashbots, we have had an immense impact on the world of cryptocurrency. The Flashbots Auction was launched in alpha in January 2021 and was quickly adopted by almost all Ethereum miners. Prior to Ethereum's Merge in 2022, Flashbots launched MEV-Boost, a temporary solution for out-of-protocol proposer-builder separation. MEV-Boost has since been adopted by over 90% of Ethereum validators and has significantly influenced the Ethereum PoS ecosystem. Now, Flashbots continues its journey with the introduction of MEV-Share as we continue our journey toward SUAVE.

Our Research

Flashbots Research is an independent arm of the organization that aims to become the hub of MEV research. In addition to conducting in-house analysis, Flashbots Research collaborates with external researchers at other institutions via an external grants program. Flashbots Research continues to publish seminal research on MEV, covering a wide range of topics including cross-chain MEV, EIP1559 and MEV, how ETH2 affects MEV, SGX and privacy, and more.
