The engineering team at Chainalysis is inspired by solving the hardest technical challenges and creating products that build trust in cryptocurrencies. We’re a global organization with teams in Denmark, UK, Canada, the USA, and Israel who thrive on the challenging work we do and doing it with other exceptionally talented teammates. Our industry changes every day and our job is to create user facing products supported by a flexible and scalable data platform allowing us to adapt to those rapid changes and bring value to our customers.
Our Hexagate team's mission is to make Web3 safe and secure for everyone. We built a real time security platform which helps protocols, dApps, asset managers and service providers to protect their users and funds from theft caused by exploits or fraud. In the web3 and crypto space, security is a fundamental unsolved issue - the blockchain is highly adversarial and exploits in the order of hundreds of millions of dollars.
We are seeking a talented Senior Security Researcher who is passionate about learning emerging technologies and leveraging that expertise to develop cutting-edge exploit and fraud detection solutions—making a direct impact as we expand and secure our platform.
In this job you’ll…
Develop, refine, and advance sophisticated exploit and fraud detection models and frameworks that protect the rapidly evolving web3 ecosystem, directly impacting the safety and integrity of the blockchain industry.
Stay at the forefront of blockchain technology—continuously research into the latest web3 protocols, chains, and exploits, truly becoming an expert in blockchain security.
Tackle complex and ambiguous technical challenges head-on, leveraging creativity and deep technical expertise to deliver solutions where others see obstacles—your work will make the impossible possible.
Thrive in a collaborative, close-knit, and high-performing team environment—enjoy autonomy, rapid iteration, and the opportunity to set new industry standards alongside passionate peers.
Write high-quality, production-ready code and collaborate closely with talented engineers, shaping pivotal features and foundational systems at scale.
What you bring
Proven record of original research and solution development in advanced cybersecurity domains—such as vulnerability discovery, exploit development, malware analysis, or cryptographic protocol assessment—demonstrating the ability to uncover novel attack vectors and safeguard digital assets.
Deep familiarity with security research methodologies, including reverse engineering, static and dynamic binary analysis, fuzz testing, threat intelligence gathering, and proof-of-concept exploit creation.
Experience publishing research, presenting at leading security conferences (such as Black Hat, DEF CON, or academic venues), or contributing to open-source security tools and threat intelligence communities.
High degree of adaptability and resourcefulness—excel in fast-paced, adversarial environments typical of the security industry, where priorities shift quickly to counter emerging threats.
Hands-on expertise with software development in systems or security-focused settings, utilizing languages such as Python, C/C++, Rust, or assembly to develop high-performance, secure code, security automation, or custom research tooling.
Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn and dissect new attack techniques, threat actor tactics, and developments in blockchain security.
Strong ethical standards and risk awareness—committed to responsible disclosure, secure code practices, and collaboration with peers to advance security for all users.
Nice to have
Proficiency in building and automating security research tools using Python, Go, or Rust; able to produce high-quality, efficient code for both prototype investigations and scalable production systems.
Success presenting technical findings at conferences, publishing security/distributed systems research, or contributing to relevant open-source, blockchain, or threat intelligence communities.
Background applying classic data science and machine learning methods—such as anomaly detection, clustering, regression, or classification—to identify, analyze, and model exploit/fraud patterns in large, complex datasets (on-chain and/or off-chain).
The position is office-based in Tel Aviv.
