The team is located globally and responsibilities are split into sub-teams, working with various tech stacks. Our teams code in C++, Go, Rust, and Python, depending on the product they are contributing to within Kraken and work agile around the globe. Recently, the Trading Technologies team played a critical role in scaling Kraken's trading infrastructure. 

The opportunity

• Design and implementation of microservices in Rust
• Writing reusable, testable, and efficient code
• Implementation of reusable components/libraries for Kraken’s backend systems
• Write highly scalable, high volume services
• Create optimized database schemas

Skills you should HODL

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering
• Experience writing network services or asynchronous code in Rust
• Experience using a Linux server environment
• Ability to define technical requirements and drive projects through to completion
• Assume technical responsibility of complex backend systems, identify opportunities for system improvement
• Have experience with system languages (C, C++, Go) and/or strongly typed programming (OCaml, Haskell, Rust)
• Previous trading knowledge is a nice to have
• Knowledge about distributed systems and technologies (gRPC, Kafka, NoSQL, SQL, Redis, ...)

$135,000 - $203,000 a yearThis is the target annual salary range for this role. This range is not inclusive of other additional compensation elements, such as our Bonus program, Equity program, Wellness allowance, and other benefits [US Only] (including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)).The compensation range provided is influenced by various factors and represents the initial target range. Our salary offerings are dynamic and we strive to ensure that our base salary and total compensation package aligns and recognizes the top talent we aim to attract and retain.
