Fraud Operations Lead

We take that trust seriously with a best-in-industry fraud team that is committed to detect, prevent, and investigate any fraud, every scam, and any user who seeks to take advantage of others on our platform. 

We’re looking for a Fraud Operations Lead to manage our fraud team and implement strategies and protocols that protect our customers and the integrity of our products. It is our mission at Shakepay to usher in the Bitcoin Golden Age, and the road to get there is fraught with challenges that will require our fraud team to rethink, redefine, and evolve to combat increasingly sophisticated challenges. 

You will 

  • Build and train our amazing fraud and KYC teams while serving as the cultural and strategic leader of the team, including managing the day to day operations
  • Challenge the status quo by designing, implementing and managing new fraud strategies and tactics to create world-class fraud prevention and detection procedures
  • Help manage the implementation of new fraud vendors 
  • Collaborate and strategize with cross-functional stakeholders to create and drive a long-term risk strategy that accelerates Shakepay’s ambitions and addresses existing problems 
  • Design, update and enforce fraud and KYC related policies and procedures, and ensure processes are up to date
  • Drive the strategic direction of our KYC and KYB programs, including implementation and monitoring 
  • Work closely with AML, KYC and support team members to ensure a great customer experience, while remaining compliant 
  • Identify and deploy scalable business solutions that can be executed across the organization as Shakepay expands, optimizing for efficiency and effectiveness
  • Track risk performance and effectiveness of our efforts, help develop and prioritize long-term strategic plans for future growth
  • Stay on top of fraud trends and learn about industry norms in the Crypto space through independent research and sharing your knowledge
  • Oversee and audit investigations to ensure thoroughness and accuracy
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and external agencies when necessary

Must have 

  • 5+ years of experience with fraud investigations
  • 2+ years of managerial experience
  • Strong knowledge of preventive and reactive fraud mitigation strategies including those related to first-party and third-party fraud
  • Experience with KYC and KYB onboarding in the financial services sector, with a strong emphasis on crypto companies, money service businesses, and financial services providers
  • Ability to see the big picture while comfortable with day to day operations
  • Start up mentality: comfortable in an ambiguous and quick changing environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with superior attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of blockchain transactions and Bitcoin
  • Confidence in problem identification and prioritization

Nice to have 

  • Bilingual in English and French 
  • Experience managing risk with Alloy
  • Formal education in forensic accounting/finance, criminology or data science 
  • CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) and/or ACAMS is a definite plus
  • Understanding of SQL and Python
