Positioning itself as Ethereum's unofficial marketing department, the collective aims to address the network's marketing deficiencies by promoting its decentralized and permissionless nature.
Central to their efforts is EIP-2077, a proposal outlining strategies to fill marketing gaps, control narratives, and promote the Ethereum ecosystem. This includes establishing consensus on core marketing issues, defending against misinformation, and creating resources to onboard users and developers.
The collective has developed several resources, such as the EIP Wiki, providing comprehensive information on Ethereum Improvement Proposals, and Etherpedia, a research hub offering in-depth analyses on Ethereum infrastructure and applications.
In July 2024, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin donated 100 ETH to the 2077 Collective, underscoring the significance of their mission within the Ethereum community.
