Cultural Research Intern - Web3/Metaverse

Here at Codec, we have a fantastic internship opportunity available for approximately 4 weeks, to help us expand our insight capabilities into web3, including the metaverse, and NFTs. This will require the candidate to be a UK national or resident, be familiar with social media, and have an understanding of the significant subcultures and trends in the space. 

You’ll be helping us build out our understanding of the web3 space by identifying and researching topics with cultural significance to our communities and brand clients. Your research will integrate with our proprietary algorithms and help us and help our clients fully understand the trends and opportunities of this emerging space.

You will get to work in a remote start-up environment, and you will be helping to build out key infrastructure and capabilities for us. Great communication skills are essential as you will be working closely with other members of the Codec team.

Working arrangements will be flexible as work will be carried out remotely, but we are looking for a UK based candidate. The working hours are 40 per week to be worked flexibly, some of which can be done in evenings / weekends to suit your schedule, however there will be a requirement to be available for some internal team calls during standard office hours. 

Requirements

The task is defining interest topics within our cultural database framework; this mainly involves:

• Comprehensive desk and Discord research (understanding and contextualising the existing and emerging trends and topics within the web3 space)
• Social media research (finding/selecting accounts on Twitter, Facebook etc. that are relevant to the interest topic)

You must:

• Be a UK resident or national
• Have your own laptop 
• Be available to start immediately
• Be available to work full time (up to 40 h/week), though with flexible working hours

Skills:

• Fluent or native English speaker
• Broad understanding and interest in web3 and the metaverse
• Awareness of the multicultural and multifaceted aspects of the web3 space, including education, gamefi, defi, and entertainment.
• Understanding and appreciation of subcultures, inclusivity and diversity
• Ability to research any topic and critically assess information
• Strong written organisation and communication skills
• Familiarity with Excel/Google Spreadsheets
• Familiarity with social media (Twitter, Facebook etc.) though no commercial skills required
• Knowledge of marketing industry is desirable
