Position Overview
We are looking for a Senior React Native Engineer to lead the development of our flagship mobile applications. You will own the end-to-end mobile experience—from architecture and performance to deployment on the App Store and Play Store. This role is critical to our product roadmap, as the mobile app is the primary touchpoint for our users. You’ll work closely with product, design, and backend/Web3 teams to ship reliable, user-centric features at a fast pace.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and maintain high-quality React Native applications for iOS and Android
- Own the full mobile delivery lifecycle: from technical design and implementation to testing, deployment, and monitoring in the App Store and Play Store
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions
- Optimize app performance, responsiveness, and reliability, with a strong focus on smooth UX and minimal crashes
- Implement secure and scalable integrations with REST/GraphQL APIs and (preferably) Web3 wallets/contracts
- Establish and maintain best practices for code quality, testing (unit, integration, end-to-end), and CI/CD for mobile
- Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and contribute to technical decision-making and architecture discussions
- Additional relevant duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 4+ years of hands-on experience building and shipping production applications using React Native (non-negotiable)
- Proven track record of publishing at least one app to the App Store or Play Store (both stores highly preferred; non-negotiable)
- Experience working in product-focused teams (startup or high-growth environment is a plus)
Technical Skills
- Expert-level proficiency in React Native, TypeScript/JavaScript, and modern React patterns (hooks, context, etc.)
- Strong experience with mobile app architecture, state management (Redux, Zustand, Recoil, MobX, etc.), and navigation (React Navigation or similar)
- Experience integrating with REST/GraphQL APIs and handling offline data, caching, and synchronization
- Solid understanding of mobile performance optimization, profiling, and debugging tools
- Experience with native modules (Android/iOS) and bridging when necessary
- Hands-on experience with app store deployment, signing, and release processes (TestFlight, internal testing tracks, etc.)
- Basic understanding of application security best practices (secure storage, encryption, handling secrets, etc.)
- Has published at least one app to the App Store or Play Store (both highly preferred)
- Minimum 4 years of experience or significant contributions (either one) in shipping production apps with React Native
Soft Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Strong ownership mindset with a bias for action and shipping value quickly
- Proven ability to break down complex problems and propose pragmatic solutions
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, iterative environment with changing priorities
- Collaborative team player who gives and receives feedback constructively and mentors others
Preferred Qualifications
- Web3 experience:
- Integrating Web3 wallets (e.g., MetaMask, WalletConnect) into mobile apps
- Interacting with smart contracts (ethers.js/web3.js/viem)
- Understanding of basic blockchain concepts (addresses, gas, transactions, signing, etc.)
- Experience in fintech/crypto or other highly regulated/secure domains
- Prior experience in performance-heavy, animation-rich apps (Reanimated, Gesture Handler, Lottie, etc.)
- Exposure to analytics, A/B testing, and feature flagging in mobile apps
- Experience leading small engineering squads or acting as a technical lead
- Contributions to open-source projects, especially in the React Native or Web3 ecosystem
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $48k-$84k pa, competitive and commensurate with experience and location. Equity allocation may also be provided. Negotiable
