Senior Platform Engineer

Imagine shaking your phone to instantly earn bitcoin. Our customers might think it’s magic, but if you’re reading this you probably know that it’s not (or is it?). It’s not. It’s our stellar dev team that makes it happen. That shaking idea started as a secret easter-egg for our fledgling customer base, and once word got out about it, we suddenly had to deal with service outages from too many people shaking at the same time.

Of course we’ve since solved that problem, and now with over 1,000,000 shakers (aka “customers''), it’s a core part of our identity—not the shaking, but the idea that we came up with something new and exciting in the slow and boring world of financial services. We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help us reimagine how Canadians build wealth and think about what they can do with their money. What you’ll be doing 

• Optimize code delivery to ensure that every engineer is delivering their best work
• Develop deployment processes and tools to ensure our software gets to customers safely and efficiently
• Streamline the engineering onboarding process via automation, highlighting learning opportunities and an introduction to delivery
• Create tooling and processes to help developers avoid outages
• Build/deploy/maintain security controls, instrumentation, and detection infrastructure
• Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues to ensure optimal system performance
• Measure key delivery metrics and respond to any major disruptions of service
• Participate in the on-call rotation and help keeping it sustainable

Who we’re looking for

• 5+ years experience as aDevOps/SRE/Cloud engineer role
• Experience using Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS in production and continuous build environments
• Experience monitoring high availability environments using tools such as DataDog
• Experience with customizing development tools
• Extensive knowledge of engineering processes, structural design, and system optimization
• Experience working with a highly collaborative team
• Experience with incident management
• Driven by business impact

Bonus points

• Experience with technologies like Kubernetes, Kafka, DataDog, AWS cloud/SRE suite (Aurora, EKS, VPC, Lambdas, CloudFormation, etc.), postgres, Terraform, ArgoCD, Helm, Node.js
• Experience building fintech infrastructure
• Some bitcoin knowledge, and the urge to learn more
