About Polygon Labs

Polygon Labs is a software development company building and developing a network of aggregated blockchains via the AggLayer, secured by Ethereum. As public infrastructure, the AggLayer will bring together user bases and liquidity for any connected chain, and leverage Ethereum as a settlement layer.  Polygon Labs has also contributed to the core development of several widely-adopted scaling protocols and tools for launching blockchains, including Polygon PoS, Polygon zkEVM, and Polygon Miden, which is in development as well as Polygon CDK.

Your Role

As the Director of Founders Community at Polygon Labs, you will report directly to the SVP of the CDE Team (Community, Devrel & Events). Your primary responsibility will be to lead a team of Community Managers, Project Managers and DevRel Engineers (DREs) in building, managing, and nurturing a high-quality community of builders and founders in the Polygon community. You will play a pivotal role in creating, nurturing, and managing a vibrant community of builders and founders within the Polygon community building dApps, infrastructure or chains on Polygon networks while attracting new founders to the community. Your focus will be on engaging, fostering loyalty, supporting builders, facilitating connections and growing this community to build a strong tribe of first-class builders in the Polygon community.

This role is crucial in supporting Polygon Labs' evolution towards building the AggLayer, a network of interconnected blockchains powered by ZK technology. As more chains are connected to the AggLayer, it’s crucial to offer a thriving community of founders to these chain builders and the builders building apps and infrastructure for these chains. You will also lead a team of Community Managers to build a strong online community (in platforms like Discord or Telegram) and work closely with the events team to leverage IRL activations to support community building.

You will also manage a team of project managers to lead the Community Grants Program, a 100mn POL per year grants program announced recently, to foster the growth of Polygon community and support the builders building innovative projects using Polygon technology.

Your Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive community strategy tailored to the needs of builders and founders, in collaboration with Polygon Labs teams

• Identify good developers in the web3 ecosystem who can potentially become founders, and create programs to support and help them in their entrepreneurial journey

• Engage with existing and prospective founders to understand their needs, and provide support to help them succeed in building using Polygon technology

• Lead and manage a team of Community Managers, Project Managers and DevRel Engineers (DREs) to implement community engagement initiatives and grants program

• Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including influential founders, venture capitalists, and industry leaders

• Organize and host events, webinars, and meetups to foster community engagement and knowledge sharing. Facilitate networking opportunities and collaboration among community members

• Establish clear communication channels and processes between the community team, BD and marketing teams, including coordination with the product and engineering teams

• Work with the marketing team to showcase founder success stories, create and manage content, including blogs, newsletters, social media posts, and other communication channels to keep the community informed and engaged

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as events, protocol devs community and external communities like Dabl Club to optimize communication flows and generate leads to enhance community growth, and work closer with Hadron Founders Club to complement their initiatives and build a strong founders community for the Polygon community 

• Work closely with product teams to relay community feedback and align community insights with product roadmap development

• Monitor community metrics and feedback to continuously improve engagement strategies and initiatives Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the health and growth of the founder community

• Represent Polygon Labs at industry events and conferences to promote the community and attract new founders

What you’ll need

• Proven track record of building and scaling communities, particularly those focused on founders or builders. 

• A desire to foster innovation and support founders on their journey.

• Deep understanding of web3 Protocols, particularly Ethereum and the Layer 2 ecosystem

• Prior experience in managing and scaling web3 Grant programs Prior experience managing diverse teams and an understanding of the unique dynamics of web3 culture.

• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and translating high-level direction into actionable plans and strategies.

• A strong network within the blockchain and startup ecosystem

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical audiences

• Familiarity with community management tools and platforms and proficiency in managing community forums and platforms like Discord and Telegram, using best practices to drive awareness, engagement, support, and incentivization

• Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement long-term community growth plans

• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to take initiative and work independently

• Experience with data analysis and reporting to measure community health and growth

• Experience with or knowledge of Polygon technology is highly desirable
